Senior Java Developer
Major publishing firm is building progressive applications for popular Web sites and invites you to join their team! Using cutting edge technologies that include Java EE, PHP, AJAX, and Adobe Flex & AIR and object-relational databases.
Join our team breaking new ground in software development and participate in all aspects of web publishing, including social networking, search engine optimization, ad serving, content management, and more. Become part of a bright and dedicated team of software developers using agile development methodologies to build high volume interactive web sites.
Responsibilities
• Participate in the full lifecycle of software development - analysis, design, coding, documentation and testing.
• Build and enhance high volume interactive web applications Jave EE frameworks including Spring, Hibernate, Websphere, and Resin.
• Create high-performance Java code by working closely with business analysts and to develop detailed implementation designs.
• Interact within an agile team, provide feature breakdowns, task breakdowns, design and scope development work and provide estimates.
• Develop and enhance internal tools for editorial, production, and business groups.
• Work with project managers and business groups to analyze and report on application performance.
• Develop test strategies and work with QA in developing test plans..
Required Qualifications
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment
• Proven ability to work in a team
• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent software development experience
• Solid knowledge of Object Oriented Programming Methodologies
• Java EE experience (4-6 years minimum)
• SQL database experience
• Expertise with HTML, XML, JavaScript web page user interface work
• Web development experience in dynamic database-driven applications
• Familiarity with the Unix Operating System
Desired Qualifications
• Experience with client side rich applications using AJAX or Flash would be a big plus
• Experience with PHP, Perl, Python, or Ruby
• Publishing experience a plus.
