Senior Web Tier (UI) Developer
Location: Rockville, MD
Duration: 6 Months
Description:
The senior web tier (UI) developer reports to the technical project manager and is responsible for producing high-quality user interfaces which exceed the end users expectations for transforming business processes. Provide web tier technical leadership, delivering high-quality, innovative software solutions.
Role responsibilities include:
Work with technical, business and subject matter analysts in a distributed environment towards the production of actionable user experience requirements/wireframes
Document and track user interface requirements in parallel with business and systems requirements definition/collection
Lead user-centered interface design sessions
Work with the Development Lead to coordinate on architectural decisions that involve or have impact on the web tier (UI).
Develop and promote best practices and guidelines for web development within the web tier (UI) team.
Use Adobe Photoshop for the post-design manipulation/preparation of graphics for web-delivery and integration in HTML/CSSP layouts.
Work with the TPM to provide concise visibility into developers tasking.
Participate in planning and estimation exercises with TPM and others as necessary.
Spend ~70% of capacity hands-on in the web code
Requirements:
Minimum of 7 years of web development, hands-on experience.
Strong understanding of popular User Experience methodologies including Persona Development, Information Architecture Visual Vocabularies, and User-centered/Cognitive Design
Demonstrable experience with XHTML/CSSP for creation of canonical, well-formatted web interfaces
Experience developing and delivering software in an iterative SDLC.
Strong JavaScript client-side development skills particularly with the development of object-oriented JavaScript code with an understanding of using JavaScript to manipulate the HTML-DOM of target browsers. Experience with AJAX a plus
Experienced with Adobe Photoshop
Experience leading user-centered interface design sessions with SMEs
Strong, demonstrate-able Java skills (Java 1.5+ experience necessary)
Full understanding of J2EE application lifecycle and front-end programming technologies (Servlets, JSP, JavaServer Faces).
Experience developing with stateless, composite UI frameworks leveraging J2EE technologies
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
Personal accountability for delivery on past projects required.
Experience with DOORS for managing technical requirements a plus.
