Senior J2EE Systems Architect

9-12 month contract
Description
Function as a senior J2EE systems architect in an IV&V effort to ensure that a third party software vendor utilizes CMMI Level 3 processes for software, hardware and systems development. This role will be responsible for coordination and development of proper design/architecture across the entire system involving a Service Oriented Architecture solution in support of the project.
The system's architect's responsibilities include:
- Troubleshoot anomalies where signal/system issues are concerned.
- Investigate and analyze third party vendor's solution's demonstrating the ability to integrate with current systems.
- Ensure that third party vendor and client systems are developed such that communication is in synchronization during transition to new system.
The Senior Architect will have exemplary leadership skills, e.g., practiced in problem solving during critical situations.

Skills Needed •
A- Proven skills for implementing and managing a large-scale diverse IT programs and database applications that are deployed enterprise-wide.
• A- Development skills to define and direct integration for a seamless end-to-end solution for the enterprise
• A- Database optimization and tuning skills to increase the robustness, performance, and scalability of the entire system.
• A- Strong development skills in Higher Order Languages on various operating systems and platforms.
• A- Design skills necessary to review the system design schemas for the enterprise environment
• B- Metrics generation skills for providing monthly reports to higher level management
Knowledge and Experience Needed • A- Minimum depth of 10 years technical knowledge in system architecture design oversight and deployment.
• A- Demonstrated CMMI experience.
• A- 7+ years experience in developing enterprise software using J2EE technologies using SOA models
• A- Solid experience with mid-tier development using Java script (client & server), servlet, struts, tiles, server-side Java beans and hibernate
• A- Hands-on experience with system integration technologies such as SOAP, Web Services, XML/XSD/XSLT
• A- Knowledge of SQL and one or more relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server
• A- Excellent object-oriented design & programming skills, including the use of UML and design patterns.
• A-Development experience with Windows and UNIX (i.e. Linux, Solaris)
• A- Experience in all phases of the application software lifecycle (SDLC) - requirements, design, development and testing.
• B- Good working knowledge of programming and systems analysis procedures.
• B- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• B- Data compression, and database export/import processes
• B- Government and/or tolling industry experience desired.
• B- High-volume transactional processing, Oracle, J2EE, EAI experience.
• B- Implementation experience in a 24/7/365 development environment.
• B- Software development experience in a J2EE/Java environment.
• B- Sun Certifications in J2EE/Java
Responsibilities
Assist IT management with administrative policies and procedures related to technical problem resolution and priority management that relates to system support and maintenance.
• Present future plans with analysis models (diagrams), prototypes, or scenarios, where appropriate.
• Lead standards development
• Follow existing and emerging system design and database standards
• Recommend to IT management changes to improve process throughput and ensure performance as identified above.
Measures of Performance • Evaluation from the Program Manager on overall work quality and effectiveness in the workplace
• Feedback from key customer or project representatives
• Customer satisfaction measures
• Satisfying or exceeding requirements development schedules, resource constraints, and quality goals
Education and certifications
Relevant Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
Masters Degree in EE, Computer Sciences or Systems engineering preferred.
